When ever possible we try to source local produce direct from the grower. This has always been an ethos that has driven Ashlyns and although this can be difficult at times, we are dedicated in ensuring the continued growth and extending the variety of produce available to our customers. When certain produce is not in season or available locally we can still source from elsewhere to ensure continuity of supply.

 We used to grow hundreds of acres of potatoes here at Ashlyns but due to our heavy Essex clay soil it always used to be a struggle. Thankfully our neighbours, Jim and Meg Padfield, persevered and so long as the quality and price is okay we buy our washed potatoes from them. 

 Essex is not renowned for growing vast acres of vegetables but thankfully Suffolk is more so. Nacton Farm Produce are very good growers that can supply us with a wide variety of produce including cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, swede, leeks and much more. They also have a select line of organic produce.

Anglia Salads are based near Colchester in Essex and have a brilliant range of high quality salad crops as well as winter vegetables.

We are always looking for new suppliers to help broaden our range of products thus enabling us to increase the amount of local food being sourced.
