Training kitchen Print

Ashlyns Training Kitchen is based on the farm at High Laver Hall, near Ongar. It was built in 2005 from a converted cattle barn and was designed to replicate

a school kitchen. Originally built to offer training courses to school catering staff, it now hosts our "Can Cook Will Cook" Big Lottery project.

Although the kitchen is really busy we do find the time to run other courses. Our two day school catering course, for which the kitchen was designed for, is still going strong and all of the schools that work with Ashlyns send their catering team.

Every course is run by experienced chefs and we can facilitate groups of up to twelve. Although the courses are mainly practical sessions we do have a classroom to cover the theory aspects. This room also doubles up as a meeting room that can be booked!!!

We also run or facilitate food safety courses and similar activities.

We have even run courses to show Head Teachers how to cook and make them aware of the roles and responsibilities in running a school kitchen.
