Congratulations to all the children who took part in the Writtle Young Chef of the Year competition!
Julie, the Catering Manager for the school chose the 2 finalists from each class - from Reception to Year 6. The children came to the farm on 7th July where they collected their ingredients from our Packhouse - the fruit and vegetables from Russell and their meat from Head Butcher Gary - before heading back to the kitchen to cook.
It was a fun filled day (if a little chaotic at times!) and with the help of their parents/carers, chefs Andy and Pete, Gary and Linda of Ashlyns and the staff from the school; they produced some absolutely wonderful food.
It was an incredibly difficult decision for Pete and Andy, but congratulations to Freya Scott-Simon who was the overall winner.
Thank you to everyone who took part, it was an amazing day!
