The Cafe at St Margaret's Hospital, Epping
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, creative and motivated Catering Manager/Head Chef to manage the catering service at St Margaret’s Hospital Cafe.
You will be joining an award-winning contract caterer with a reputation for innovation and a background built on strong ethics and an ongoing commitment to improving the dining experience of customers, staff and patients.
You will manage and be part of a team, and work closely reporting to your Operations Manager, ensuring that standards are achieved and maintained.
You will be confident in your craft cooking skills and able to adhere to our bi-weekly seasonal lunch time menu, whilst providing exceptional service standards in all areas of catering including breakfast and additional lunch time offerings.
You will be able to demonstrate skills in team management, training, budget control, reporting, service improvement, customer relations and marketing with attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about their craft and exceptionally organised. We include calendar events and celebrations throughout the year with a food themed twist, so time management and planning are skills that are required.
In brief, you will have:
a solid background in catering within a commercial environment
experience of managing others
exceptional culinary skills and be used to working with fresh produce only
a sound and up to date knowledge of food safety procedures
an understanding of nutrition and allergens
a genuine interest and a desire to challenge perceptions of hospital meals
excellent communication skills, with the ability to deal with patients, staff and colleagues confidently and successfully
Salary £32,000 per annum
Hours of work 40 per week (Monday to Friday) 07:30-16:00 (includes 30 minute break)
Due the nature of the business, there may be bank holiday work which you will be expected to cover.
Candidates must be prepared to obtain an enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) disclosure which is satisfactory to both Ashlyns and the hospital and be rechecked throughout their employment. All other safeguarding conditions including clearances for satisfactory references, medicals and right of work in the UK must be obtained
