Update from Gary

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

On the back of my recent post regarding local produce, I am delighted to tell you that Cammas Hall Farm in Hatfield Broad Oak are now open again for "Pick Your Own" and hopefully we will be stocking their soft fruits from about the 15th June.

When the crops are ready we will be able to source strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and blackcurrants. It will be subject to availability due to the weather and we will put them in their own category on our website. We are hugely passionate about supporting Jonathan and his team at Cammas Hall and it's well worth a visit. We are hoping that people will still go there well after the restrictions are relaxed. Please visit their website to see what is on offer at their farm shop and to understand the measures they have put in place during the current Covid-19 restrictions. www.cammashall.co.uk

We have been amazed by the popularity of the fish now available. We are working closely with our fishmonger to extend the range and to try and tie in with their deliveries to maintain freshness. We considered keeping some as stock in the freezer but we would prefer not to do that. As with many suppliers, their customer base disappeared overnight and they are working very hard to build back up again. Anything we can do to support them is gratefully welcomed by them.

As many of you know, our main business is working with schools and hospitals. Some of our schools returned on 1st June, albeit in a somewhat reduced capacity, and the future is still unclear as to what level of children will be attending in the coming weeks. With this in mind, for the time being, we have decided to limit the amount of home deliveries we do on a Monday. This decision will allow us to focus on school orders on a Monday which is historically the busiest delivery day for us.

Once again, thank you for your continued support and kind messages.

Gary and the Ashlyns Team
